Kitchen, Dining Room and Foyer Laminate to Hardwood

6105 Roman Avenue

The previous homeowners installed a heavy-duty laminate, decades earlier, that was showing signs of wear and tear. The outdated flooring added too many shades of wood to the space which already has an abundance of honey oak wood cabinets.

Since the cabinets were going to remain honey oak, a medium brown ¾-inch oak hardwood was installed to balance the light cabinets and darker flooring. This hardwood is very durable for high traffic areas and adds texture with the sanded edges and hand-scraped surfaces.

Kitchen Cabinets to Drawers

6105 Roman Avenue

The original kitchen cabinet was a typical cabinet with the purpose of storing and stacking pots and pans with their lids. It had a smaller, inefficient interior shelf and a large base with two swing doors.

The interior shelf was removed and the door handles were relocated to improve the door pull function. Four drawer boxes were built to accommodate the door width and maximize the cabinet space. Now, the lids are contained in one drawer and the cookware is easily accessible.

Kitchen Microwave Area to Drawers

6105 Roman Avenue

This cabinet was originally a spot for a microwave with a drawer below but limited the size of the microwave to fit in the area. Three new drawers, to match the existing cabinets, were installed. New wood spacers in between drawers, cut from an original cabinet door, finished off the project. A large microwave now sits on the abundant countertop nearby.

Office Engineered Hardwood

6105 Roman Avenue

The builder-grade carpet of this nice size home office space was showing it’s age. It was replaced with a medium brown engineered oak hardwood.
